Rinne (the “App”) is a local-first memo app that lets users save notes, links, images, and videos and review them in a personal feed. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled in the App.
1. Information We Handle
The App does not require account registration or login. The App does not collect account information through its own user account system. The App also does not collect information to identify users for advertising, tracking, or analytics purposes.
The following information that users save in the App is stored on the user’s device:
- Text notes
- Saved URLs
- Metadata retrieved from URLs, such as titles, descriptions, and thumbnails
- Images and videos selected by the user or shared from other apps
- App settings, including folders, bookmarks, and display preferences
2. How Information Is Used
The App uses saved information for the following purposes:
- To display notes, links, images, and videos inside the App
- To retrieve titles, descriptions, and thumbnails for saved URLs and display them as link cards
- To preserve folders, display settings, and other user-selected states
- To provide backup and restore features initiated by the user
3. Network Communication
When a user saves a URL, the App may connect to the relevant website or service to retrieve metadata such as a title, description, or thumbnail.
The App does not include third-party SDKs or services for advertising, tracking, or analytics.
4. Collection, Transmission, and Sharing With Third Parties
The App does not send users’ saved notes, images, videos, or URLs to a developer-operated server, and it does not sell such information to third parties.
However, when a user saves a URL, the App may access the target website to retrieve metadata. The privacy policy of the target website may apply to that communication. If the user shares content with another app using operating system sharing features, the privacy policy of the receiving app or service applies.
5. Device Permissions
The App may use device permissions for the following purposes:
- Photos and videos: to attach images or videos to notes, or to save images and videos shared from other apps
- Internet access: to retrieve metadata for saved URLs
Permissions are used only as needed for the features selected by the user.
6. Data Storage and Deletion
The App primarily stores data locally on the user’s device. Users can delete notes and folders inside the App. If the user uninstalls the App using the device’s app management features, locally stored App data is also removed.
Backup files created by the backup feature are managed by the user. To delete a backup file, the user should delete the file from its storage location.
7. Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that a child has entered personal information into the App, they should delete the relevant data from the device.
8. Security
The App is designed to handle user information appropriately on the device. However, information may be exposed due to device loss, operating system settings, other apps, or sharing actions initiated by the user. Users should take care when saving or sharing sensitive information.
9. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Updated terms become effective when they are posted on the App’s distribution page or another location designated by the developer.
